We're seeking a Certified Electrician at Canfor Green Energy in Grande Prairie, AB. Our Electriciansare responsible for the safe maintenance, repair, installation and modification of all power plant-related equipment, applying their skills to maximize uptime, quality and production.

As a Certified Electrician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and control panels within the mill.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues in machinery, sensors, transmitters, and other equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other control systems to enhance efficiency and precision in the mill processes.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when working with electrical systems.
  • Identify and address electrical safety hazards within the power plant environment to maintain a safe working atmosphere.
  • Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Prioritize and address critical electrical issues to ensure the continuous operation of power plant equipment.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance and operations personnel to coordinate electrical repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to convey information about electrical systems and potential improvements.
For this role, we are looking for candidates who have:
  • Certified Journeyman or Red Seal
  • A strong background in PLC’s and troubleshooting
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work with others to perform all aspects of maintenance activities.
  • Completion of grade 12, a GED or a minimum of 5 years related work experience
