Job summary

TopGum seeks a Maintenance Technician – Industrial Electrician to keep production equipment operating safely in a GMP environment. This 12-hour rotating day/night shift role requires installation, maintenance, and repair of plant machinery and systems with an emphasis on reliability and safety.

• Red Seal Certificate: Industrial Electrician required.
• Preference for PLC troubleshooting experience.
• Experience in GMP/food manufacturing environment is an asset.
• Ability to read and create electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Willingness to work set shift schedule including nights and weekends.
• Must be able to wear all required PPE.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Maintain equipment via preventative maintenance program and log details into a CMMS (Limble).
• Read, interpret, and follow instructions and operation manuals.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Read blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Repair or replace conveyors, gear boxes, hydraulics & pneumatics; welding with power tools.
• Maintain HVAC, water softener systems, chiller units and other utilities.
• Prioritize safety in all work activities.
• Focus on Continuous Improvement to streamline processes.
• Perform other maintenance duties as required.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning machines and equipment; make necessary adjustments.

The Opportunity

Our Maintenance Technicians play a critical role in keeping all components of the production facility and production equipment operating safely and efficiently. In addition, our technicians with Industrial Electrician qualifications install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in the plant. This role requires shift work. 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights every 2 weeks.

• Quickly diagnoses and resolves electrical issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment
• Maintain all types of equipment through a preventative maintenance program and log all details into a CMMS database. (Limble)
• Read, interpret, and follow instructions and operation manuals.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Read blueprints and sketches proficiently to fabricate equipment and make modifications.
• Repair or replace chains; belt conveyors; gear boxes/drive chains; hydraulics & pneumatics; welding/cutting; and using power tools.
• Maintain HVAC systems, water softener systems, chiller units and other utilities.
• Prioritize safety in approach to all work activities.
• Focus on Continuous Improvement to streamline work processes.
• Perform all other maintenance duties as required.
• Diagnose/Troubleshoot the cause of malfunctioning machines and other plant equipment and make necessary adjustments and repairs.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, draw diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals regularly.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Red Seal Certificate: Industrial Electrician required.
• Preference will be given to those with PLC troubleshooting experience.
• BMS experience would be an asset.
• Ability to read & create electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Experience in a large-scale GMP, meat or food manufacturing or processing environment is preferred.
• Willingness to work set shift schedule including nights, weekends and overtime as required.
• Must be able to wear all required personal protective gear.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience with electrical, HVAC and chiller systems would be considered an asset.
