MT Talent Solutions is partnering with a major Canadian producer in Markham, ON, to recruit a licensed electrician for a high-volume, highly automated facility.

You will perform electrical maintenance, read schematics, troubleshoot PLCs and VFDs, and uphold safety standards in a non-union, tech-forward environment. Competitive hourly pay, full benefits, and uniforms are provided.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on maintenance in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Licensed Electrician 309A/442A or 4th Year Apprentice; Red Seal is an advantage.
• Forklift license or willingness to become certified.
• Ability to read blueprints/drawings.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and spoken communication and teamwork.
• Reliable with good attendance; computer proficient (MS Office, CMMS).
• Commitment to health and safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong electrical aptitude, with basic mechanical knowledge and proactive maintenance.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and equipment documentation.
• Utilize knowledge of low/medium-voltage distribution, PLCs, VFDs, motors, and computer-based systems.
• Follow maintenance procedures and safety guidelines; perform preventative maintenance.
• Schedule and prioritize maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues to restore operations.
• Inspect and maintain wiring, fixtures and control devices; ensure code compliance.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment conditions.

Here’s what you will do:

• Demonstrate strong electrical aptitude, with basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform routine maintenance as required.


• Read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment documentation.


• Apply thorough knowledge of low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), motors, and computer-based systems.


• Follow established maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, documentation requirements, and workplace safety practices.


• Proactively maintain equipment to ensure optimal operating condition, minimize downtime, and prevent disruptions to production and operations.


• Troubleshoot equipment and machine breakdowns, identify root causes, and complete preventative and corrective maintenance as required.


• Detect, isolate, diagnose, and repair electrical and mechanical irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment.


• Plan, lay out, assemble, install, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and related electrical equipment in buildings and other structures.


• Conduct scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical equipment, components, and installations to identify potential hazards, defects, adjustments, or repairs required.


• Ensure all maintenance and electrical work is completed in accordance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, specifications, and company procedures.


• Effectively schedule and prioritize assigned maintenance activities while maintaining a strong focus on deadlines and operational requirements.


• Prepare sketches and interpret blueprints to determine the proper location and installation of wiring and electrical equipment while ensuring compliance with building and safety codes.


• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose issues efficiently, and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime and restore operations as quickly as possible.


• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment conditions.

Here’s what we’re looking for and what you will need to succeed:

• 5+ years of hands-on Maintenance experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment


• 309A or 442A Licensed Electrician or 4th Year Apprentice. Red Seal ticket is an advantage.


• Forklift license or experience with willingness to become certified


• Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings


• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills


• Strong oral and written communication and teamwork skills


• Reliable and committed with good attendance record


• Computer proficient: MS Office, CMMS


• High regard for health and safety and commitment to always following company and safety policies and procedures
