The role requires 12-hour rotating shifts and a hands-on approach, with responsibilities spanning repair, preventative maintenance, and documentation in the CMMS. A background in food manufacturing and GMP is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in equipment repair and maintenance in manufacturing.
  • GMP/food manufacturing environment experience preferred.
  • Willingness to work set shift including nights, weekends, and overtime.
  • Must read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Log all maintenance details into a CMMS (Limble).
  • Read and follow manuals, blueprints, and sketches.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Fabricate parts from blueprints and modify equipment.
  • Repair belts, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and weld/cut.
  • Maintain HVAC, water softeners, chillers, and other utilities.
  • Prioritize safety and drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform other maintenance duties as required.

The Opportunity

Our Maintenance Technicians play a critical role in keeping all components of the production facility and production equipment operating safely and efficiently. This role is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment. This role requires shift work. 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights every 2 weeks.

  • Production equipment is maintained in safe and efficient working order.
  • Preventative maintenance tasks are completed consistently and accurately documented.
  • Equipment downtime is minimized through proactive troubleshooting and repair.
  • Safety procedures and GMP standards are consistently followed.
  • Maintenance work areas remain organized, clean, and compliant.
  • Continuous improvement opportunities are identified and supported.
  • Quickly diagnoses and resolves technical issues.
  • Mentors team members and collaborates effectively across departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Maintain all types of equipment through a preventative maintenance program and log all details into a CMMS database. (Limble).
  • Read, interpret, and follow instructions and operation manuals.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Read blueprints and sketches proficiently to fabricate equipment and make modifications.
  • Repair or replace chains; belt conveyors; gear boxes/drive chains; hydraulics & pneumatics; welding/cutting; and using power tools.
  • Maintain HVAC systems, water softener systems, chiller units and other utilities.
  • Prioritize safety in approach to all work activities.
  • Focus on Continuous Improvement to streamline work processes.
  • Perform all other maintenance duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Highschool graduation or GED required, 2-year related diploma preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in equipment repair, maintenance and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment, food manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment, electromechanical or controls experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of equipment, tools and maintenance practices
  • Experience in a large-scale GMP, meat or food manufacturing or processing environment is preferred.
  • Willingness to work set shift schedule including nights, weekends and overtime as required.
  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective gear.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience with electrical, HVAC and chiller systems would be considered an asset.

Must have authorization to work in Canada.

This position requires the ability to:

  • Stoop, reach, kneel or crouch.
  • Experience exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Experience exposure to excessive noise and some hazardous materials.
  • Turn, bend, reach, pull, and walk.
  • Stand for extended periods of time; up to 12 hours.
