Job summary

Top Gum North America is seeking an Industrial Electrician/Maintenance Technician to keep the production facility and equipment running safely and efficiently in a 12-hour shift pattern. You will install, maintain, and repair stationary machinery, read schematics, and troubleshoot electrical, HVAC and chiller systems in a GMP environment.

Strong PLC troubleshooting and willingness to work nights, weekends, and overtime are expected. Authorization to work in Canada is required.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Certificate: Industrial Electrician required.
• PLC troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Experience in GMP, meat or food manufacturing is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Willingness to work set shift schedule including nights and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair machinery and equipment.
• Maintain equipment through a preventative maintenance program and log details into a CMMS database.
• Read manuals and blueprints; fabricate or modify equipment as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Repair conveyors, hydraulics & pneumatics, welding and power tools use.
• Maintain HVAC systems, chiller and water treatment equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues and implement fixes.
• Prioritize safety and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The Opportunity

Our Maintenance Technicians play a critical role in keeping all components of the production facility and production equipment operating safely and efficiently. In addition, our technicians with Industrial Electrician qualifications install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in the plant. This role requires shift work. 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights every 2 weeks.

• Equipment downtime is minimized through proactive troubleshooting and repair.
• Safety procedures and GMP standards are consistently followed.
• Maintenance work areas remain organized, clean, and compliant.
• Continuous improvement opportunities are identified and supported.
• Quickly diagnoses and resolves electrical issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Maintain all types of equipment through a preventative maintenance program and log all details into a CMMS database. (Limble).
• Read, interpret, and follow instructions and operation manuals.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Read blueprints and sketches proficiently to fabricate equipment and make modifications.
• Repair or replace chains; belt conveyors; gear boxes/drive chains; hydraulics & pneumatics; welding/cutting; and using power tools.
• Maintain HVAC systems, water softener systems, chiller units and other utilities.
• Prioritize safety in approach to all work activities.
• Focus on Continuous Improvement to streamline work processes.
• Perform all other maintenance duties as required.
• Diagnose/Troubleshoot the cause of malfunctioning machines and other plant equipment and make necessary adjustments and repairs.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, draw diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals regularly.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Certificate: Industrial Electrician required.
• Preference will be given to those with PLC troubleshooting experience.
• BMS experience would be an asset.
• Ability to read & create electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Experience in a large-scale GMP, meat or food manufacturing or processing environment is preferred.
• Willingness to work set shift schedule including nights, weekends and overtime as required.
• Must be able to wear all required personal protective gear.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience with electrical, HVAC and chiller systems would be considered an asset.
