Job summary

The Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino, BC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join a Relais & Châteaux property recognized by Forbes, Michelin Key, AAA Four Diamond, and Travel & Leisure’s World’s Best Hotels.

This role involves a wide range of general maintenance duties, including outdoor work in all weather, lifting up to 35 lbs, and frequent interaction with guests in guestrooms or public spaces. You will work with a team to maintain guestrooms, public spaces, and grounds to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain guestrooms and public spaces to Relais & Châteaux and Forbes/AAA standards.
• Handle landscaping duties and general grounds work.
• Perform painting, carpentry, and equipment maintenance projects.
• Maintain interior and exterior building systems and furniture.
• Assist in preventative maintenance scheduling and outdoor tasks.

This position will be responsible for a range of general maintenance duties. At times this will be a physically demanding position requiring heavy lifting and involving a wide variety of assignments, some of which will be outdoors. The candidate must be physically able to perform such tasks in any type of weather, often with short notice. The successful candidate should be well versed in Guest Service, as they will have many opportunities to be dealing with guests, either in guestrooms or in public spaces.

As a Maintenance Technician You Will

• Ensure efficient and personalized guest service meeting and exceeding Relais & Chateaux and Forbes, AAA 4 & 5 Diamond Standards.
• Be true to Our Promise, meet and exceed the service philosophies and standards of the Inn.
• Be part of a team who is responsible for the daily maintenance of guestrooms and public spaces.
• Be responsible for landscaping duties, and general grounds work.
• Handle project work such as painting, carpentry and equipment maintenance.
• Be part of a team who is responsible for Interior and Exterior building maintenance.
• Assist in helping to maintain a schedule-based program of preventative maintenance.
• Handle equipment maintenance including bicycle fleet upkeep.
• Manage furniture restoration and repair.
• Work in the outdoors for a variety of tasks.

• A valid BC Class 5 Driver's License. Applicants must be eligible for a BC Class 5 driver’s license and have a minimum of two years of clean driving experience in their home country.
• The ability to make a commitment to the position for a mutually understood and agreed upon period of time.

Salary/Wage: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour.
