Job summary

Cascades in Ottawa is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our on-site production lines running smoothly. This role focuses on preventive maintenance, repairs, and on-floor support for both Plant 1 and Plant 2, ensuring safety and reliability.

You will document activities, assist contractors, and contribute to continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment. Training is provided; health and safety come first at Cascades.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing or related industry.
• Experience with equipment used in the recycling industry is an asset.
• Experience in carpentry work.
• Must be aware of all safety standards and requirements for maintenance work.
• Related technical school training.
• Training as a welder/fabricator would also be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular scheduled preventative maintenance for all equipment and building components at Plant 1 and Plant 2.
• Maintain all PM Program records for Plant 1 and Plant 2.
• Repair plant equipment as required (stationary/mobile).
• Assist in modification and fabrication of equipment for new production needs.
• Support 3rd party contractors with troubleshooting and repairs.
• Complete and file documentation: PM reports, service reports, inventory, daily activity.

What you’ll do

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll be at the heart of operations—right on the floor where materials take shape.
Your day-to-day:

• Will perform regular scheduled preventative maintenance (PM Program) for all stationary equipment, mobile plant equipment and building components at both Plant 1 and Plant 2, as required.
• Will maintain all of the necessary records to support PM Program at Plant 1 and Plant 2.
• Will perform service and repair to all plant equipment as required. This may include stationary equipment, mobile plant equipment and building components at Plant 1 and 2, as required.
• To be involved in the modification and fabrication of equipment to fit new production requirements and assist in solving production issues.
• Assist 3rd party contractors with troubleshooting, repairs or overhauls with existing or new equipment installations as required.
• Complete all documentation related to the activities of the Department, including but not limited to preventative maintenance reports, service reports, inventory reports or request forms and daily activity reports.

Your strengths as a Maintenance Technician

• Experience in a manufacturing or related industry.
• Previous experience with equipment used in the recycling industry and related mobile equipment is a definite asset.
• Experience in carpentry work.
• Must be aware of all safety standards and requirements for maintenance work.
• Related technical school training.
• Training as a welder/fabricator would also be an asset.
