Job description

Description Acara is seeking a Mechanical or Electrical subject matter expert with excellent leadership skills for a Maintenance Supervisor in Hamilton. This opportunity is with a large bakery manufacturing facility that offers excellent perks including RSP matching, 9% bonus, overtime eligibility, and a starting salary of up to $95k.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the overall supervision of millwrights and electricians in a unionized manufacturing environment.
2. Ensure employee safety and overall compliance with OHSA.
3. This position requires initiative, leadership, excellent communication skills, and confidence regarding your technical and organizational talents.
4. Ensure the efficient operation of plant equipment and services, involving cost control, safety, and product quality.
5. Understand production requirements and day-to-day equipment operating issues by ensuring open and effective communication with all other departments. (This may require working several production shifts)
6. Responsible for scheduling work orders in Maximo, assessing employee training needs and performance.
7. Develop, lead, and maintain capable and effective employees in all areas of the maintenance function.
8. Maintain a positive union and employee relations environment.
9. Continuously improve the preventive maintenance program to reduce downtime and improve overall maintenance costs.
10. Oversee and direct plant projects involving our own employees or outside contractors.
11. Handle employee issues effectively, in accordance with the collective agreement.
12. Assist with the implementation of capital projects.
13. Plan and implement preventive maintenance on equipment as required.
14. Must be knowledgeable and able to follow GMPs, Food Safety, and Health & Safety requirements.
