Qualifications

Job description

Join to apply for the Maintenance Supervisor role at Ventura Foods

Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in installing, testing, repairing, and adjusting equipment. Ensure equipment is running efficiently to meet production goals and complete work orders effectively. Manage mechanics by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Schedule and direct maintenance employees in daily tasks. Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving issues.
  2. Develop and maintain preventative maintenance strategies for electrical/automation systems, HVAC, air compressors, and ammonia systems, including scheduling and reporting in a CMMS system (JDE).
  3. Use lean tools to recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and efficiency. Drive root cause analysis for downtime.
  4. Collaborate with Production Manager and supervisors to meet production goals by providing necessary manpower for equipment repairs.
  5. Develop and maintain training programs for employees and plant personnel on procedures like LOTO, TPC online, NFPA, PLC, and root cause analysis.
  6. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, NFPA, DOLI, company policies, and other regulations.
  7. Evaluate employee performance, recommend wage advancements, and issue corrective actions as needed.
  8. Participate actively in daily production meetings, lead staff meetings, and work to increase productivity and quality.
  9. Promote safety within the facility, develop safety programs, and lead maintenance team safety initiatives.
  10. Ensure compliance with food safety policies, GMPs, FSMA, and related regulations.
Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s degree or two-year degree with equivalent experience.
  2. At least 2+ years as a front-line supervisor or five years in plant and equipment maintenance.
Knowledge and Skills:
  1. High accuracy and experience with electrical systems, ammonia refrigeration, boilers, pneumatics, blueprints, and packaging equipment.
  2. Knowledge of GMPs, sanitation, and union relations is helpful.
  3. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  4. Technical understanding of manufacturing equipment and maintenance.

*Salary range is an estimate; actual pay may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

Physical Demands:

Tasks require physical strength and dexterity, including sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Additional requirements include working in adverse temperatures, exposure to chemicals, fumes, allergens, and working at heights or in confined spaces.
