Purpose of the Job

Responsible for supervising Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) maintenance technicians and subcontractors for preventive and corrective maintenance, emergency modifications, and warranty activities on the Finch West LRT contract. Make timely operational and personnel decisions, including resource allocation, customer service, performance appraisals, employee development, and corrective actions. Monitor and assign maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to ethical, safety, and environmental standards, and promote a respectful workplace free of harassment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety meetings, job briefings, and ensure compliance with safety policies through testing and documentation.
  • Document and address safety incidents and hazards, involving engineering and EHS teams as needed.
  • Support and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) to the team.
  • Ensure team understands business objectives and their roles.
  • Coordinate with management to meet customer service expectations.
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain positive team relationships and ensure timely data entry in MAXIMO/GSI (SAP-based).
  • Audit work orders, ensure shift work is logged accurately, and produce shift reports.
  • Communicate with external counterparts and resolve technical and human relations issues.
  • Work with employees to establish self-managed work teams and promote an empowered workforce.
  • Enforce safety rules and conduct regular safety audits.
Qualifications & Knowledge
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory role or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in maintenance, industrial, or technical environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of warranty repairs, parts management, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Proven leadership in managing people and assets.
  • Ability to solve complex technical issues, negotiate, and prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of EHS regulations and proficiency in computer applications, especially vehicle maintenance systems like MAXIMO/GSI.
