Qualifications

The Opportunity

As a member of the Engineering and Maintenance team, the Maintenance Supervisor oversees the maintenance and repair of plant machinery, equipment, and systems, ensuring safety, quality, and cost-efficiency. The role involves developing structured job plans, coordinating with various departments, and interacting regularly with operators, maintenance staff, and engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and schedule maintenance activities of skilled trades employees.
  • Develop job plans for both planned and unplanned work.
  • Coordinate work schedules with other departments.
  • Procure parts, tools, and equipment; estimate hours and costs.
  • Troubleshoot issues and recommend improvements for productivity and quality.
  • Mentor staff in job duties and safety procedures.
  • Maintain the master job plan catalogue and preventative maintenance calendar.
  • Manage work requests and generate work orders using CMMS.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and maintenance routine development.
  • Track repair history and costs to develop proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Maintain equipment files and asset databases.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams.
  • Participate in employee relations activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • Skilled Trade Certification: Dual Ticket (IMM or Pipefitter/Industrial Electrician 442a) preferred; Industrial Electrician 442a or IMM required.
  • 5+ years supervisory/leadership experience in industrial maintenance.
  • 3-5 years managing unionized skilled trades personnel.
  • 3+ years troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, hot oils, steam, and fire protection systems.
  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, CMMS, CAD, and other relevant systems.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act regulations.
  • Relevant safety training (First Aid/CPR, Confined Space, etc.).
  • Experience in chemical or automotive manufacturing environments is a plus.
