Job summary

City of Edmonton is seeking a Mechanical Repair Worker I to maintain critical infrastructure, including air compressors and rail-mounted exhaust conveyance systems across core facilities. You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components, triage requests, and coordinate outages with tenants and emergency services.

The role requires Grade 10 completion, strong mechanical aptitude, and solid communication skills. A City Driver's permit and Police Information Check are required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent required.
  • Familiarity with a variety of building mechanical systems is preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand technical service manuals.
  • Effective written and oral communication, including conflict resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections and service of air compressors and related piping.
  • Maintain and service rail-mounted, mobile vehicle exhaust conveyance systems.
  • Troubleshoot low voltage electrical systems and rotating equipment.
  • Triage requests and direct the work of other maintenance repair workers.
  • Coordinate service outages in core buildings with tenants and emergency services.
  • Manage inventory for parts with long delivery times and maintain maintenance records.
