Job summary

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day delivery of pilot training and recruitment across all fleets.
• Lead and coach Standards Pilots and the Coordinator, Flight Operations Training & Recruitment; foster instructor development and standardization.
• Develop, implement, and monitor dashboards, KPIs, and data analytics to measure performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure consistency across training programs, instructional practices, procedures, and assessment standards.
• Coordinate recruitment activities including assessments, simulations, interviews, and events; manage timelines for recruitment-to-training.
• Collaborate with Flight Operations, Crew Planning, Safety, People & Culture, and other stakeholders to support priorities.
• Ensure training activities comply with regulatory requirements and approved programs.
• Participate in the Safety Management System by reporting hazards and incidents and promoting safety policy.

Job Summary

The Manager, Flight Operations Training & Recruitment provides strategic and operational leadership for pilot training and recruitment across all Porter Airlines fleets. This role is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, delivery, and continuous improvement of training and recruitment programs while ensuring consistency, standardization, and operational excellence.

Leading a team of Standards Pilots and the Coordinator, Flight Operations Training & Recruitment, the Manager partners with Flight Operations, Crew Planning, Safety, People & Culture, and other key stakeholders to execute Porter Airlines' unified training strategy, support pilot recruitment initiatives, and deliver a high-performing training environment.

The Manager ensures all training and recruitment activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and departmental objectives, while leveraging data, technology, and continuous improvement to support the organization's growth.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day delivery of pilot training and recruitment activities across all fleets
• Lead, coach, and support Standards Pilots and the Coordinator, Flight Operations Training & Recruitment, fostering instructor development, standardization, and continuous improvement across simulator, ground school, recruitment, line indoctrination, and pilot checking functions
• Develop, implement, and monitor operational controls, dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and data analytics to measure performance, leverage AI tools, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure consistency and standardization across training programs, instructional practices, operational procedures, recruitment processes, and competency-based assessment standards
• Oversee the coordination of pilot recruitment activities, including assessments, simulator evaluations, interviews, hiring events, and recruitment-to-training timelines to support operational readiness and resource planning
• Coordinate training and recruitment activities with Flight Operations, Crew Planning, Safety, People & Culture, and other operational stakeholders to support organizational priorities
• Ensure all training activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements, approved training programs, company manuals, and operational standards
• Actively participate in Porter's Safety Management System (SMS) by reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations and promoting the Company's Safety Policy
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Technical proficiency in spreadsheet development, reporting, and dashboard creation using Google Workspace, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools
• Experience leveraging data analysis to support operational decision-making and continuous improvement
• Experience in project management and leading cross-functional initiatives
• Experience using AI tools, including agentic AI, to enhance operational effectiveness and training outcomes
• Experience leading or supporting organizational change management initiatives and applying change management frameworks
