Job summary

Connecting-Care- maintains the physical environment of the community to keep it safe, comfortable and welcoming for residents and staff. The role covers routine inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and grounds keeping, with an emphasis on dignity and belonging in a homelike setting.

We offer both full-time and part-time permanent positions. The Care Partner will follow safety guidelines, log work, and collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor and trades as needed.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or recognized equivalent.
• 2+ years proven maintenance experience.
• Certification in building maintenance is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Conducts daily inspections of the building, grounds, and equipment.
• Performs minor repairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical and lighting systems.
• Maintains a daily maintenance log and reports issues to the Supervisor.
• Performs snow removal and landscape maintenance as required.
• Ensures adherence to Health and Safety Regulations and company standards.
• Prepares resident rooms and coordinates with the Supervisor for moves.

Role Overview

The Maintenance Care Partner is responsible for maintaining the physical environment of the community to ensure it remains safe, comfortable, and welcoming for all who live and work there. This includes performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and grounds keeping while responding promptly to service requests. Key Accountabilities

• Conducts daily inspections of the building, grounds, and equipment.
• Makes minor adjustments and repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, electrical and lighting systems.
• Performs painting and drywall repair duties.
• Ensures adherence to Quality Standards, Wellness Strategies and all Health and Safety Regulations.
• Maintains a daily maintenance log detailing the work performed.
• Reports any noted issues to the Maintenance Supervisor for follow-up.
• Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Performs sidewalk snow removal duties (as required). Keeps all entrances clear and unobstructed. In the absence of a snow removal contract, clears snow from the parking lots (as required).
• In the absence of a landscape contract, performs lawn and landscape maintenance duties.
• Follows written or verbal instruction from the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Collaborates with the Maintenance Supervisor and contractors (as needed).
• May be required to move heavy furniture, appliances, equipment, and supplies.
• Supports residents in making their living spaces feel like home by ensuring that furniture, decorations, and personal belongings are handled with care and respect.
• Collaborates with the Maintenance Supervisor on conducting all scheduled fire drill activities.
• Runs the back-up emergency generator monthly to ensure proper operation.
• Coordinates the preparation of the resident rooms prior to the arrival of new residents.
• Ensures that rooms are welcoming, comfortable, and reflect the unique needs and preferences of each new resident, reinforcing their sense of belonging from day one.
• Maintains an up-to-date inventory of supplies and equipment. Reports purchase requests to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Reads and follows manuals, blueprints and other written instructions regarding the proper care and operation of the building systems.
• Uses equipment, power tools, and hand tools in a safe and responsible manner.
• In the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor, may provide oversite to contracted tradespersons during installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Follows weekly/monthly/semi-annual and annual maintenance schedules to ensure optimum building operation and ensures all check sheets are completed and files. For those communities with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), logs-in and reviews the maintenance alarm history daily. Checks for proper HVAC system operation and building temperature control and ensures the timely close out of all demand and preventative maintenance work orders.

Required Education

• Grade 12 diploma or recognized equivalent is required.
• 2+ years proven maintenance experience is required.
• Certification in building maintenance is considered an asset.

Required Skills

• Must have a driver’s license and clean driving record.
• A basic understanding of computer literacy is required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and be able to read, write, and speak fluently in the English language.
• Must be able to handle the physical demands of the role, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 lbs.
• Must be able to collaborate with other employees and contacted tradespersons.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety practices and Regulations is required.

Additional Education and Skills

• Experience in using hand and power tools
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
• Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure with minimal supervision
• Proven problem-solving ability skillset is required
• Ability to prioritize work loads critical to operations
• At least one year of building maintenance experience is preferred
