Job summary

MEDA Limited is seeking an experienced Maintenance / Production Supervisor to support an automotive client on a 6-month, 100% onsite contract. You will coach teams on safety, quality, and productivity while driving through standardized work and continuous improvement.

Flexibility to work all shifts and overtime including weekends is required. You will oversee unionized staff, optimize throughput, monitor production issues, and lead problem resolution at the lowest levels.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience supervising unionized workforce and understanding of CBA.
  • Experience in body shop, stamping, paint, subassembly, or machining preferred.
  • Safety and Quality experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and constraint management principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Prior experience managing a unionized workforce.
  • CNC machining experience (Power TakeOff) and helium leak stand experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coach team members on Safety, Quality, and Productivity to ensure objectives are met by adhering to standardized work.
  • Optimize production throughput in alignment with budget and cost objectives.
  • Monitor ANDON occurrences and serve as the initial responder for secondary support.
  • Verify production line safe and smooth operation and its output of quality parts.
  • Support Kaizen initiatives and coach problem resolution at the lowest possible level.
  • Meet targets for First Time Through, inventory, cost, scrap, supply, and tooling expenses.
  • Build the capability of Team Leaders and Team Members and create a conducive work environment.
  • Perform basic administration of supervisory duties and documentation.

Job description

We are recruiting an experienced Maintenance / Production Supervisor to join our team to support our client in the automotive industry.

NOTE:
  • 6-month contract
  • 100% onsite
  • Must be available to work OT as required including weekends
  • Must be able to work all shifts
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coach team members on Safety, Quality, and Productivity to ensure objectives are met by adhering to standardized work
  • Optimize production throughput in alignment with budget and cost objectives
  • Monitor ANDON (a system to notify production issues) occurrences and serve as
  • the initial responder for secondary support
  • Verify production line safe and smooth operation, and its output of quality
  • parts, through Process Confirmation
  • Support Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) initiatives and coach problem resolution at the lowest possible level
  • Meet targets for First Time Through (FTT), inventory, cost, scrap, supply, and tooling expenses
  • Build the capability of both Team Leaders and Team Members
  • Create a conducive work environment that enables teams to complete their
  • assigned responsibilities and tasks
  • Ensure effective communication and recognition within the team
  • Perform basic administration of supervisory duties and documentation
  • Create process and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processes
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1+ years’ experience working with and supervising unionized workforce and understanding of CBA (collective bargaining agreement)
  • Experience in body shop, stamping, paint, subassembly, or machining preferred.
  • Safety and Quality experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and constraint management principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook)
  • Prior experience managing a unionized workforce
  • Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining experience (specific to Power TakeOff)
  • Helium leak stand experience (specific to Power Take-Off)
  • Adept problem-solving and conflict management skills
  • Effective organizational and administrative capabilities
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • $35.00 - $40.00/hour (depending on experience)
  • Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc.
  • Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work (open enrollment every October)
