Job summary

Covia is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic 3 at its Marston, NC location to ensure safe, reliable plant operation. The role covers multiple maintenance disciplines, including conveyors, pumps, and welding, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

The successful candidate will read schematics, perform preventative maintenance, and collaborate with a safety-driven team to meet production targets. A high school diploma or GED and English literacy are required; prior mining or heavy equipment

Qualifications

• Reads and understands parts schematics and blueprints for maintenance fabrication and parts replacement.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment adequately.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety with prior experience identifying and managing risks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and productive operation of the plant; perform pre-job safety discussions and risk assessments.
• Perform preventative maintenance on belts, bearings, motors, pumps, valves, and other equipment.
• Repair and replace components on drive mechanisms, pumps, and conveyors; align shafts and drive elements.
• Diagnose mechanical failures, troubleshoot equipment, and implement corrective actions.
• Welding and fabrication using appropriate rod, cutting torch, and measuring tools.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety practices; participate in team meetings and continuous improvement.
• Operate equipment as required and use proper rigging and lifting practices.
