Job summary

Johnson Electric in Ancaster, Ontario is seeking a Maintenance Co-op to gain hands-on experience with millwright processes in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. You will assist licensed journeymen, perform preventative maintenance, and help with repairs.

The role requires Grade 12, willingness to commit to schooling and the 8000 hours of OJT; CNC experience is a plus. This is an onsite, $20–$24 CAD/hour co-op position with potential for growth.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or GED; provide proof to Ministry as part of apprenticeship.
• Commitment to Day Release schooling and certification testing.
• Complete 8000 hours of practical OJT training for certification.
• Experience in machining environment; CNC experience is a plus.
• Strong communication, integrity and results orientation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and Johnson Electric policies.
• Maintain production and facility equipment to maximize uptime.
• Regularly inspect machinery for defects and perform preventative maintenance.
• Assist Journeyman with modifications and repairs to machinery.
• Install new equipment in coordination with outside services.
• Establish and maintain maintenance standards and programs.
• Observe OHSA and company safety rules and 5S practices.
• Support lean initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
• Work shifts including weekends as required.

Successful candidates must provide proof of Grade 12 (or GED) to Ministry of Training, colleges and Universities when signing up for the Apprenticeship.* Must be committed to completing the formal schooling as part of a “Day Release” program and committed to the study and the testing required as part of the program certification* Must be committed to completing the 8000hrs of practical OJT training, as required for certification* Related work experience and/or training in a machining environment (high volume automotive manufacturing environment would be viewed as an asset); experience with CNC machines a definite asset* Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization* High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation* Strong mathematical, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills are required.* Computer fundamentals an asset* Must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written* Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and be a team player* Must be flexible and willing to work any shifts or times (including weekends), as required* Must be able to demonstrate good multi-tasking skills and deal with a rapidly changing work environment* Must adhere to all company policies, procedures and practices,Good understanding and adherence to 5S practices will be mandatory* Must work in compliance of Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations* Strong Electronic/Mechanical background is considered a definite asset* Must be well organized and able to work with minimum supervision* Must have ability to safely lift up to 40-45lbs on an occasional basis* Probationary Period required - will be 6 months* Wage reviews will be conducted after required training milestones are met* Candidate scoring and selection will be based on criteria stated above* Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization* High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation
