Job summary

Johnson Electric in Ancaster, ON is seeking an Operations Technician – Millwright to maintain, repair and troubleshoot mechanical systems and production equipment, ensuring safe and efficient manufacturing operations.

You will work with pumps, valves, actuators, motors, hydraulics, and drives, read schematics and drawings, coordinate contractor activities, and use CMMS to document maintenance and work orders. This role requires problem solving, teamwork and strict safety adherence.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Certificate of Apprenticeship.
• Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).
• 3–5 years of practical industrial maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain pumps, valves, pneumatic actuators, electric actuators, motors, gears, hydraulics, mechanical drives, speed reducers, and related equipment.
• Diagnose equipment failures and recommend repairs or replacements.
• Interpret operating and maintenance manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Coordinate and supervise contractor activities while ensuring compliance with maintenance standards and industry best practices.
• Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns and perform root cause troubleshooting.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities for special projects.
• Maintain positive working relationships with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Utilize CMMS to document maintenance activities, equipment history, and work orders.
• Perform welding, pipefitting, rigging, and related maintenance tasks as required.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, quality requirements, and applicable codes.
• Support compliance with Quality Management Systems, including IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
