Essential Job Functions
Provide planning, support, and execution of hardware changes for IBM Mainframe systems, including z9, z10, z11, z12, and z13 models.
Configure and manage Hardware Management Consoles (HMC) and Service Elements.
Oversee and maintain Parallel Sysplex environments, Coupling Facilities, Sysplex Timers, and Server Time Protocol (STP) configurations.
Create and manage mainframe processor and virtual LPAR configurations using asset and configuration tools.
Coordinate and implement hardware changes through change management processes, including creation of change tickets and securing approvals.
Support datacenter facilities requirements including raised floor power, cooling, airflow, and layout management.
Act as subject matter expert during hardware-related incidents, changes, and projects, including data center migrations.
Direct onsite activities and vendors during hardware installations, repairs, and firmware updates.
Manage vendor relationships, including coordinating updates, attending meetings, and ensuring adherence to SLA expectations.
Collaborate with internal teams, including Capacity Planning, to review processor utilization reports and forecast hardware needs.
Document hardware environments and procedures using tools like SharePoint, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Participate in procurement activities by requesting hardware quotes and coordinating new equipment acquisitions.
Serve as a technical point of contact for hardware-related problem determination and root cause analysis across mainframe platforms.
Provide timely updates and resolution to incidents using tracking tools; collaborate with other teams to support troubleshooting and escalations.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of IBM Mainframe architecture, including CPUs, DASD, Tape subsystems, FICON/ESCON directors, and related peripherals.
Proficient in IBM z/OS and associated hardware management across all supported releases.
Familiarity with mainframe network connectivity, including OSA adapters and Ethernet integration.
Hands-on experience in Change/IMAC Management, Incident/Problem Management, and Asset Management platforms.
Expertise in Configuration Management for mainframe infrastructure and virtual partitioning.
Solid understanding of system performance reporting and utilization analysis in coordination with Capacity Planning teams.

Strong time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
Ability to work independently or collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to lead and support hardware-related efforts during weekends, holidays, and off-hours as required.
Experience participating in and leading hardware planning efforts during enterprise-scale projects and migrations.
Work Environment
Primarily remote role with on-call availability for 24x7 support.
May involve occasional onsite direction to local support teams or vendors during hardware implementations or incidents.
Requires flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, to meet business continuity and support requirements.
