Job description

Sr. Electrical/Hardware Engineer (Hybrid)

Xanadu’s mission is to build quantum computers that are useful and available to people everywhere.

At Xanadu, we are learners, innovators, researchers, collaborators, and problem solvers. We are creating something that has never been built before. If successful, our technologies will solve some of the world’s most challenging problems and change the world. This is an exciting opportunity!

Your role and responsibilities:

As part of the Hardware Team, you will collaborate with physicists and engineers to develop high-performance custom electronic boards for photonic quantum computers. As a senior electrical engineer, you will leverage your experience in precision analog measurement and digital control. You will design, develop, optimize, and debug electronic modules interfacing with complex optoelectronic instruments. Your expertise in low-noise analog and mixed-signal circuits will drive the architecture of electronic control systems for photonic quantum computers.

Basic qualifications and experience:

  • BSc or higher in electrical engineering.
  • 5+ years of industry or academic experience in relevant fields.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • MSc or PhD in electrical engineering, physics, or related disciplines.
  • 8+ years combined academic and industry experience, including 3+ years industry experience.
  • Expertise in low-noise ADC/DAC data acquisition and analog control systems.
  • Experience with RF testing equipment (VNAs, ESAs, AWGs, etc.).
  • Knowledge of noise sources (ground loops, EMI) and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience designing interfaces between custom instruments and FPGA-based control systems.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (Ethernet, USB, I2C, SPI).
  • Experience with CMOS, TTL logic families, and high-speed differential signaling.
  • Understanding of optics/photonics components (photodiodes, modulators, lasers, fibers).
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer and Cadence Virtuoso Layout Suite.

We value diversity and are committed to an inclusive, safe, and equitable workplace. Learn more about our values here.
