Placements24 is seeking an experienced Machinery Maintenance Engineer to join our Kimberley facility. The role focuses on proactive maintenance strategies, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and executing timely repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.

The hybrid position supports strategic planning and hands-on intervention, with responsibilities spanning preventive schedules, reading drawings, managing spares, and ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience as Machinery Maintenance Engineer or similar.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems: gears, bearings, motors, power transmission.
• Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and CAD drawings.
• Experience with diagnostic tools; PLC troubleshooting is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and proactive equipment reliability mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules for plant machinery.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures.
• Perform repairs and replacements of worn parts to optimise performance.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with suppliers.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Machinery Maintenance Engineer to join their facility in Kimberley . This role is essential for the upkeep and optimal functioning of a wide range of industrial machinery. You will be responsible for implementing proactive maintenance strategies, diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, and executing timely repairs to minimize downtime and ensure production efficiency. The ideal candidate possesses a strong engineering background, practical troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety and quality. This hybrid role allows for strategic planning and oversight, complemented by hands-on intervention when required, supporting vital operations in the Northern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules for all plant machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems failures.
• Perform repairs and replacements of worn or faulty machine parts, ensuring optimal performance.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings , blueprints, and machine schematics.
• Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with suppliers for necessary components.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance technicians on site in Kimberley .
