Job summary

Washington Mills is seeking a hands-on Machine Repair Technician Class 2 to maintain and repair plant machinery in Niagara Falls, Ontario. You will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment, supporting preventive and corrective maintenance across the facility.

The role requires a Mechanical Trade Certificate and at least 3 years in manufacturing or heavy industry, with your own tools and a commitment to safety. On-site work with after-hours on-call rotation is expected.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Mechanical Trade Certificate.
• 3+ years of manufacturing or heavy industrial experience.

Responsibilities

• Repair, adjust, service, overhaul, and install plant machinery and equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and material handling equipment.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine repairs.
• Perform alignment, leveling, rigging, and installation as required.
• Dismantle, repair, replace, and reassemble components.
• Maintain maintenance records and documentation.
• Follow lockout/tagout and site safety protocols.
• Rotate weekly after-hours on-call and carry a pager.

What You’ll Do

Machine Repair Technician Class 2 is responsible for repairing, adjusting, servicing, overhauling, and installing plant machinery and equipment. You will install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery and mechanical systems across the facility.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and material‑handling equipment
• Conduct regular equipment inspections and identify potential maintenance issues
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate repairs
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and equipment specifications
• Perform alignment, leveling, rigging, and equipment installation as required
• Dismantle, repair, replace, and reassemble mechanical components
• Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment, and other maintenance equipment
• Support equipment shutdowns, overhauls, and planned maintenance activities
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures and all site‑specific safety protocols
• Rotate weekly after‑hours on‑call and carry a pager
