Core Laboratories is seeking a reliable Machine Operator to set up, operate, and maintain CNC equipment in a safe, quality-focused shop environment.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, using precision instruments, and maintaining documentation in line with ISO standards. You will ensure accurate reporting, proactive maintenance, and clear communication across shifts while upholding safety and production performance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year plus of related work experience required.
  • CNC machining class work or certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic machine set-up, including checks for Revision of Program, correct material, and quantity required.
  • Set initiation position for machine home and tooling offsets.
  • Follow machine operation procedures according to written drawings, prints, or verbal orders.
  • Interpret Engineering drawings with a basic understanding of print reading.
  • Read and interpret micrometers, calipers and thread gauges properly.
  • Follow shop safety standards and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily machine maintenance, including checking machine fluid levels and cleaning debris.
  • Follow company Quality Control standards and ISO procedures.
  • Accurately complete required paperwork and utilize timekeeping systems.
  • Maintain a communication log at the machine and communicate between shifts.

Job description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Machine Operator to set up, operate, and maintain CNC machining equipment in a safe and efficient manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be able to read engineering drawings, use precision measuring instruments, perform basic machine setup and maintenance, and follow quality control and ISO standards. This role requires accurate documentation, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous production performance.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform basic machine set-up, including checks for Revision of Program, correct material, and quantity required. Set initiation position for machine home and tooling offsets.
  • Follow machine operation procedures according to written drawings, prints, or verbal orders.
  • Have a good understanding of CNC tooling and their applications.
  • Interpret Engineering drawings with a basic understanding of print reading.
  • Read and interpret micrometers, calipers and thread gauges properly.
  • Follow shop safety standards and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily machine maintenance, including checking machine fluid levels, lifting devices for wear and tear, cleaning chips and debris from area and notify supervisor of potential issues on tooling requirements.
  • Follow company Quality Control standards. Interpret and apply ISO standards where required.
  • Accurately complete required paperwork and utilize electronic time keeping hardware/ software.
  • Maintain a communication log at the machine to record all alarms and issues encountered during the shift, and provide clear communications between shifts, both written and verbal.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
  • Ability to furnish their own basic precision measuring tools and required hand tools - preferred.
  • Ability to distinguish between different metals used in process.
  • Working knowledge of basic metal cutting principles.
  • Basic knowledge of tooling nomenclature.
  • Perform complete machine set-up without assistance.
  • Diagnose process problems and apply appropriate corrections.
  • Ability to read and interpret precision-measuring instruments.
  • Proficient in machining and inspecting multiple thread forms, including Acme, Stub Acme, V-thread, Round, and Buttress threads used in industrial and mechanical applications.
  • Ability to distinguish different material and their machining properties and can use correct tooling and their required feeds and speeds.
  • Ability to consistently work within a tolerance of +/- .001 ranges.
  • Experience in trouble shooting and making edits in CNC programs.
  • Ability to understand and apply GD&T as required.
