Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in manufacturing field; licensure preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings with close tolerances.
  • Familiar with machining tooling and fixturing.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate multi-axis milling machines.
  • Align fixtures and adjust tooling for optimal setup.
  • Prove out of program; adjust speeds/feeds and offsets.
  • Inspect first part for dimensional accuracy within tolerance.
  • Prepare fixtures/tools for next job; train operators as needed.
  • Follow safety policies and maintain clean, organized work area.

Job description

Salary Range: CA$21.00 To CA$23.00 Annually

Position: CNC Set-up Technician (Afternoon and Night Shift)

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Direct Reports: None

Summary

The Set-up Technician, under the direction of the Engineering Manager, will primarily be responsible to ensure compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery. This position will ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency. This role will also ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety and quality standards, as well as customer needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate multi axis milling machines
  • Setup machine using proper tooling and most efficient techniques
  • Align Fixture, vice to table.
  • Adjust & Modify fixture where needed to ensure proper setup.
  • Prove out of program, make necessary adjustments to tools, offsets, speeds and feeds.
  • Check 1 st part and make sure all dimensions are within tolerance.
  • Keep production running by deburring and preparing parts for loading into vise or fixture.
  • Prepare fixture and tools for next job. Plan ahead when special tools and new fixtures are required.
  • Able to use manual machines where required.
  • Able to use all available measuring tools (Micrometers, vernier, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.
  • Use time while machine is running as efficient as possible, for checking parts, deburring, cleaning of tools, holders, machine from previous setups.
  • Prepare proper loading instructions and tools sheets and train operators on machine prior to signing job into production.
  • Protect self and others by following the company Health & Safety policy and practicing safe work habits.
  • Perform other tasks within the department as required

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in a manufacturing-related field; certifications or licenses appropriate to manufacturing industry preferred
  • Three years of related experience
  • Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in machining Processes
  • Familiar with Fanuc / Yasnac controls
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, working with close tolerances
  • Tooling & Fixturing knowledge preferred
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • Demonstrated ability to operate material-handling equipment
