Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated individual to serve as our Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Research and Business Development Representative. Reporting to a Portfolio Manager, this role is essential in supporting the M&A team by providing timely, accurate, and well-organized information on potential businesses and products.

The research and operations team plays a key role in maintaining a strong pipeline of deal opportunities, ensuring they have the potential to convert into completed deals. Additionally, this role contributes to M&A pipeline development by directly targeting and engaging with prospects.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Research & Analysis
    • Collect, organize, and synthesize data on prospective businesses, products, and market trends to support M&A business development.
    • Ensure the accuracy and relevance of research materials, company data, reports, and presentations.
  2. Pipeline Operations Management
    • Manage the flow of leads to the M&A business development team and ensure pipeline advancement.
    • Oversee lead quality and maintain accurate documentation in Salesforce.com.
    • Prepare and present insights to the M&A team, Portfolio Manager, and key stakeholders.
  3. Business Development
    • Create a target list of prospects in Salesforce, ensuring:
      • 100% contact completion with all prospects.
      • 100% renewal retention for existing clients.
    • Set up meetings for the Portfolio Manager with M&A target contacts by implementing a structured 7-step outreach process.
    • Use multiple outreach methods (email, phone, LinkedIn, trade shows, in-person meetings) to engage with targets, aiming for a 30%+ connection rate.
    • Attend trade shows with the Portfolio Manager, maximizing meaningful prospect conversations.
    • Conduct in-depth research on target companies and executives, preparing objectives and strategic discussion points for each call.
    • Document all activities and outcomes in Salesforce.com.
  4. Collaboration with the M&A Deal Team
    • Facilitate the exchange of documents for initial M&A discussions with interested prospects.
  5. Process Optimization
    • Identify and implement tools, methodologies, and best practices to enhance research efficiency.
    • Continuously improve workflows and systems for better information management and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
  • 1+ years of experience in M&A research, software, corporate strategy, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in a sales or client services role, preferably working with C-suite executives.
