About The Job

Type: Full time/Permanent

Wage: $19.50 / hour

Shifts: Sunday to Wednesday / 6:30 am to 5 pm

Summary

The Technician Trainee (TT) role is a developmental position intended to familiarize a new employee with the Technician role while working as a Service Employee and is enrolled in Ryder's 18-month Technical Training Developmental Program. The incumbent will be assigned to a mentor and receive hands-on experience and knowledge in a professional shop environment. The goal is to prepare the trainee for future technician roles within Ryder, contingent on their performance, work ethic, and fit with Ryder's culture. The TT must complete all responsibilities and training weekly, guided by their mentor, and remain in good standing throughout the program. All shop policies and procedures must be adhered to. Upon completion, the TT will be eligible for technician-level opportunities.

Essential Functions
  • Move heavy-duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or rental shop. Wash and detail vehicles manually or with automated equipment. Fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles safely, maintaining proper fuel and DEF inventories. Perform multi-point inspections, check tire pressure and tread, fluid levels, lights, and report issues. Maintain fuel island standards and perform minor facility maintenance. Complete assigned tasks as directed by supervisor.
  • Attend and complete all training requirements of the Technician Training Development Program, including hands-on and online modules, covering areas such as vehicle inspection, fueling, washing, safety, preventive maintenance, tire service, and advanced repairs.
