Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board invites applications for a Teacher – Long Term Occasional (LTO) at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall.

Responsibilities include learning support in the LAC, planning literacy and numeracy, and contributing to the Student Achievement Plan. The position requires knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum K-12, Universal Design for Learning, and ability to work with students with multiple exceptionalities, including autism.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with students with multiple exceptionalities and autism.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum K-12.
  • Understanding of Universal Design for Learning principles.
  • Experience with IEPs, learning profiles and behaviour/safety plans.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement effective literacy and numeracy instruction.
  • Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team with staff, system teams and parents.
  • Be prepared to take on extra-curricular duties.
  • Use varied instructional and assessment approaches to support learning.
  • Contribute to the school's Student Achievement Plan through PLCs and co-planning.

TEACHER – LONG TERM OCCASIONAL (LTO)

ST. JOSEPH-SCOLLARD HALL

1.0 (Three Sections – Semester 1)

Learning Assistance Centre (LAC)

Effective October 19, 2026 until approx. December 21, 2026 and not to extend beyond February 5, 2027

Requirements:

  • Basic qualifications to teach in the Intermediate and Senior Divisions
  • Special Education Part I
  • Experience working with students with multiple exceptionalities and in particular, students with Autism
  • Special Education Part II or Specialist would be an asset
  • Knowledge of and experience of the Ontario Curriculum K-12
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing the strategies outlined in the Ministry's Learning For All K-12 document
  • An understanding of the Ontario Catholic Curriculum and effective strategies to teach Literacy and Numeracy
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing the principles of Universal Design for Learning
  • Knowledge and experience in utilizing a variety of instructional and assessment approaches to support literacy and numeracy development
  • Knowledge and experience with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans, learning profiles and behaviour and safety plan for students with special education needs
  • Knowledge, experience and commitment to integrating a variety of digital learning technologies and related applications effectively into instructional practice
  • Knowledge and experience with the IPRC process
  • Experience and training in Behaviour Management Systems Training program (BMST)
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment with members of the staff, system team, community agencies and parents
  • Strong communication, planning, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan for the effective integration of a variety of learning technologies and related software to support learning
  • A willingness to actively assume extra curricular duties
  • Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning and collaboration around the school's Student Achievement Plan through school-based PLC's, department meetings, co-planning and co-teaching.
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with, the school community.
  • Knowledge and experience in utilizing student learning management systems such as Google Classroom, as well as additional G-Suite digital tools and EDSBY

Current compensation, in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
