Job Description

Northern Transformer is a Canadian-owned, fast-growing manufacturer of substation and mobile power transformers. Our team delivers transformers of the highest quality through superior design, quality workmanship, and attention to our clients’ individual needs.

Due to our business growth, we are seeking a Logistics Supervisor to join our team. This role is crucial for managing and coordinating the storage, transportation, and delivery of goods, including production scheduling responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Coordination:
  2. Oversee the movement, distribution, and storage of supplies and materials.
  3. Plan and monitor inbound and outgoing deliveries.
  4. Supervise logistics, warehouse, transportation, and customer service teams.
  5. Production Scheduling:
  6. Coordinate production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products.
  7. Work closely with production teams to align logistics with production timelines.
  8. Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet delivery deadlines.
  9. Inventory Management:
  10. Manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock is available.
  11. Monitor cycle counts and address issues related to variances such as mis-tagging, misplacement, theft, or damage. Conduct root cause analysis.
  12. Reorder products as needed to maintain inventory levels.
  13. Conduct cost analysis to select cost-effective transportation options.
  14. Perform annual inventory audits in collaboration with senior management and finance teams.
  15. Communication and Coordination:
  16. Establish and maintain communication with suppliers, customs brokers, carriers, and customers.
  17. Ensure all parties collaborate to guarantee timely shipment and delivery.
  18. Resolve logistics and production scheduling issues or complaints.
  19. Compliance and Reporting:
  20. Ensure operations adhere to laws, guidelines, and ISO standards.
  21. Prepare and file logistics reports.
  22. Implement and enforce safety procedures and standards among staff.
  23. Team Management:
  24. Recruit and coordinate logistics staff, such as truck drivers, according to needs.
  25. Monitor and manage logistics personnel to ensure efficient and safe delivery of goods.
  26. Motivate and lead team members to achieve goals and objectives.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of inventory management experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with logistics software and tools (ERP systems, inventory management software).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and scheduling abilities.
  • Familiarity with accounting, manufacturing, freight, warehousing, and international distribution.
  • Proven ability to implement process changes that lead to cost savings.
  • Data analysis and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Conflict resolution and complaint handling skills.
  • Critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving aptitude.
