Job summary

Bison Transport Inc. is seeking a highly energetic co‑op student to join our Logistics team this summer in Mississauga.

You will gain hands‑on experience in the brokerage arm, tracking shipments, supporting brokers, and maintaining clear communication with drivers and internal stakeholders. Ideal candidates are enrolled in a Commerce/Management/Business degree, with exceptional customer service, communication, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Enroll in an 8‑month co‑op program and join from May to December 2026.
  • Currently enrolled in a Commerce, Management or Business Administration degree.
  • Exceptional customer service skills; internal and external customers.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.

  • Assist brokers and brokerage staff with day‑to‑day tasks.
  • Contact drivers and dispatch by phone for status updates.
  • Monitor events in operating systems and escalate delays.
  • Process shipment updates and provide proactive status to stakeholders.
  • Respond to inquiries and record information in systems.
  • Troubleshoot as required and perform other duties.

Job description

We are currently recruiting an energetic, results-focused post‑secondary student to join our team this summer! This position offers an opportunity to gain experience and to learn about our Logistics team, our Company and the transportation Industry. The Logistics department is a fast‑growing brokerage arm of Bison Transport that builds Bison’s network across North America by developing strong relationships with our partner carriers.

Responsibilities
  • Track shipments in real‑time using tools such as GPS.
  • Assist brokers and brokerage staff with day‑to‑day responsibilities.
  • Contact drivers and dispatch by phone to confirm status updates.
  • Monitor and update events such as arrivals and departures in various operating systems.
  • Identify delays or route deviations and escalati;n as needed.
  • Process shipment updates received from various sources.
  • Provide proactive shipment status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to inquiries for information from various sources.
  • Record information in various operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot as required.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
  • Must be enrolled in an 8‑month co‑op program and able to join us from May to December 2026.
  • Currently enrolled in a Commerce, Management or Business Administration degree, your record should reflect balanced achievement in academics and practical experience.
  • Exceptional customer service skills; embraces the concept of both the internal and external customer.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong sales aptitude, including the ability to influence, negotiate, and build value‑based relationships.
  • The ability to work independently and work effectively as a team player.
  • Results orientation, ownership mindset, solutions outlook, and integrity Ability to quickly establish working relationships and effectively transition through assignments.
  • Ability to thrive in a multi-task, deadline orientated, high volume and fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and the ability to learn complex programs.
  • Desire to pursue continuous learning activities is also considered a strong asset.
Key Details
  • Full‑time in office availability from January 2027 (Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00 for either 4, 8 or 12mos term), with the potential for flexible part‑time hours during the school year.
