Job summary

Dexter Construction Company Limited in Halifax region seeks an experienced Receiving Facilities Manager to oversee the movement of recyclables and waste across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, focusing on Otter Lake and our Halifax facility. You will lead transportation operations, optimize routes, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.

The role requires 5+ years in transportation or fleet management, knowledge of provincial and federal regs, driver supervision, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in transportation, logistics, or fleet management.
• Proven experience leading transportation teams and supervising drivers/dispatchers.
• Strong knowledge of provincial and federal transportation regulations.
• Experience with fleet maintenance coordination and safety initiatives.
• Commitment to health and safety with proactive safety observations.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with multi-priority management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; proficiency in MS Office.
• Valid driver’s license; Class 1 license a plus; willingness to travel NS/NB.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily transportation operations of 15+ drivers including dispatch, routing, scheduling, and fleet coordination.
• Optimize routes and load planning to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Develop and maintain relationships with receiving facilities, depot managers, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Monitor performance and lead continuous improvement across logistics operations.
• Report to General Manager; manage productivity metrics via GPS reports.
• Recruit, train, supervise drivers and transportation staff; conduct performance reviews.
