Responsibilities

  1. Develop specific plans to prioritize
  2. Organize tasks to accomplish the work
  3. Track and complete work orders
  4. Monitor movement of supplies and materials between departments
  5. Perform routine clerical duties
  6. Read blueprints, written specifications and production drawings
  7. Prepare and submit reports
  8. Ensure smooth operation of computer equipment and machinery
  9. Arrange for maintenance and repair work
  10. Ensure accuracy of completed time sheets, payroll and other summaries
  11. Ensure proper functioning of equipment
  12. Maintain work records and logs
  13. Monitor personnel workloads and locations
  14. Organize warehouse and work areas
  15. Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
  16. Co-ordinate activities with warehouse and production units
  17. Co-ordinate traffic flow of supplies
  18. Compile worksheets and specifications of orders
  19. Consult with production supervisor to schedule production runs in a cost and time-efficient manner
  20. Estimate type and quantity of materials and labour required for production, construction and other projects
  21. Monitor production progress
  22. Prepare and maintain progress and other reports
  23. Project management
  24. Provide customer service
  25. Train workers in duties and policies
  26. Conduct performance reviews
  27. Co-ordinate, assign and review work
  28. Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies
  29. Advise vehicle operators of traffic and other problems
  30. Assist with maintenance of communications equipment
  31. Communicate with ships, aircraft and other remote operations
  32. Dispatch personnel according to schedules and work orders
  33. Dispatch personnel as required by emergency situations
  34. Follow-up on issues with work orders
  35. Keep track of shipments
  36. Knowledge of cross border dispatching regulations and practices
  37. Knowledge of highway trucking and associated rules and regulations
  38. Maintain vehicle operator work records
  39. Process and transmit information and instructions to co-ordinate the activities of vehicle operators and crews using dispatching equipment
  40. Record mileage, fuel use, repairs and other expenses
  41. Respond to urgent calls from individuals who find themselves in life threatening situations and who require assistance
  42. Schedule assignments and co-ordinate activities of vehicle operators, crews and equipment
  43. Organize and maintain inventory
