Job summary

Transport Laberge in Lévis, Quebec, is seeking a City Dispatcher to coordinate daily transportation operations, plan loads, assign drivers, monitor vehicles, and track yard inventory across rail sites.

This on-site role requires strong organization, bilingual English/French skills, and experience with transportation management software. Occasional after-hours availability is expected to ensure smooth deliveries.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience dispatching truck transportation.
• Excellent knowledge of Eastern Canada and the United States geography.
• Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 and AI tools; quick to learn new tech.
• Familiarity with transportation management software such as Magnus, Super Dispatch or MIR.
• Able to learn new tools quickly (AnyDesk, Igloohome, mobile tracking).
• Fluent in French and English, both spoken and written.
• Team-oriented, service-focused approach.
• Occasional availability outside regular hours for emergencies.

CITY DISPATCHER

About the role

The City Dispatcher coordinates daily transportation operations. You’ll plan loads and driver assignments, monitor vehicles and drivers, maintain inventory records at rail sites, and work with internal teams to keep deliveries running smoothly.

What we’re looking for

• At least 3 years of experience dispatching truck transportation
• Excellent geographic knowledge of Eastern Canada and the United States
• Experience working in a unionized environment
• Strong command of Microsoft 365, curiosity about new technology, and advanced proficiency with AI tools
• Familiarity with transportation management software such as Magnus, Super Dispatch or MIR
• Ability to learn new tools quickly, including AnyDesk, Igloohome and mobile tracking systems
• Strong organizational, prioritization and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently, accurately and calmly as priorities change
• Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written, to communicate with drivers and customers
• A team-oriented, service-focused approach
• Occasional availability outside regular hours in case of an emergency

Education in transportation logistics or a relevant certification is an asset.

Your responsibilities

Dispatch and operations

• Manage operational emails and calls, confirm drivers’ hours, and follow up as needed.
• Plan loads and coordinate driver assignments.
• Maintain tracking lists, yard inventory and returns.
• Update vehicle locations in the CN system.
• Work with the Québec terminal to coordinate inventory and deliveries to dealerships farther away.

Fleet and equipment

• Review the truck list, confirm which units are active, and report any damage or mechanical issues.
• Manage key baskets and ensure protective equipment is available.
• Attend garage meetings to stay informed about the fleet’s mechanical condition.

Documentation and communication

• Prepare and sort documents for other terminals.
• Send updates about replacement trucks and significant operational issues.
• Prepare and submit a daily report to management.
• Perform other related duties.

Employment conditions

• Location: Lévis, Quebec; on-site
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; 40 hours per week
