Job summary

Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre in Canmore is seeking a Full-time Line Cook for AM/PM shifts. You would work under the Chef, with training and guidance, preparing food for Table Food+Drink and Banquet functions.

The role requires knowledge of standard cooking techniques, hotel kitchen experience, and strong teamwork. Benefits include staff accommodation, discounted meals, health care benefits after probation, and access to our gym and pool.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of standard cooking, baking and grilling techniques.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen/hotel environment.
  • On-the-job training provided.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork.
  • Able to work calmly under pressure.
  • Hospitality diploma or certificate is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up the kitchen before opening or banquet functions.
  • Cooks a portion of each meal as directed by the Executive or Sous Chef.
  • Assists with cutting, marinating and precooking foods.
  • Keeps pace with cooks to ensure orders are ready on time.
  • Assembles dishes and garnishes plates attractively.
  • Helps other cooks to complete orders on time.
  • Plates food to maximize guest enjoyment.
  • Wraps unused items and stores them properly at shift end.
  • Maintains sanitary conditions and follows health and safety rules.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre is located in central Canmore.

We are seeking a Full-time Line Cook - AM/PM Shift.

We don't have an approved LMIA for this position. The position is available for applicants with a valid work status in Canada & We can support Francophone Mobility program

The primary objective of our Line Cooks is to assist with preparing food that comes out of the kitchen for Table Food+Drink and Banquet functions.

You would work directly under the Chef, who provides training and instructions. We are working to provide culinary excellence for the pleasure of our guests.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Helps set up the whole kitchen prior to a restaurant’s opening or banquet function
  • Cooks a specific portion of each meal as assigned by either the Executive or Sous Chef
  • Assists with cutting, marinating and precooking foods.
  • Keeps pace with the other cooks to ensure food orders are ready and completed on time
  • Assembles dishes and provides garnishment
  • Steps in to help other cooks to make sure the order is completed on time
  • Plates food in an attractive manner to maximize customer enjoyment
  • Wraps unused items and stores them in proper areas at the end of a shift and shuts off all equipment.
  • Pitches in, along with the rest of the staff, to maintain sanitary conditions and organization in the kitchen
  • Ensure health and safety practices and WCB regulations are taught and followed.
  • Other duties as assigned
Education & Qualifications
  • Has knowledge of standard cooking, baking and grilling techniques.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen/hotel environment
  • On-the-job training
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Works cooperatively and efficiently in a team environment
  • Be able to perform calmly under pressure
  • Manages time effectively
  • Able to learn new recipes and new procedures rapidly
  • Monitors personal performance and makes improvements where needed
  • Hospitality Diploma or Certificate is an asset
