Job summary

The City of Delta is hiring Lifeguard/Instructor 2 for Winskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre. You will educate on pool rules, oversee aquatic programs, and maintain safety standards for all ages.

Qualified candidates hold NL Pool Option, Lifesaving Swim Instructor cert, CPR C, and are at least 16. Availability for Fall/Winter 2026-2027 is required. Salary is competitive hourly plus 12% in lieu of vacation and holidays.

Responsibilities

Lifeguard/Instructor 2

The City of Delta is seeking enthusiastic and safety focused individuals to join the team at Winskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre as a Lifeguard/Instructor. Lifeguard/Instructors educate on pool rules; perform minor maintenance tasks; provide first aid treatment; lead instructional and recreational aquatic programs for all age ranges and to provide information to the public regarding swimmer progress and instructional evaluation techniques

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Sound knowledge of the theory and practice of lifesaving, artificial respiration and first aid.
• Working knowledge of teaching methods and group leadership techniques emphasizing instruction in water safety and aquatic skills.
• Working knowledge of pool chemistry, of water filtration, chlorination, heating and related pool equipment and procedures.
• Ability to display sound aquatic skills and to instruct in these skills at standards set by relevant authorities.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, employees and patrons.
• Ability to prepare and maintain records relating to the work.

Qualifications:

• National Lifeguard Award – Pool Option (NL)
• Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification
• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Level C current within one year (CPR C)
• Minimum age of sixteen (16) years.
• Completion of Grade 10 and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience is an asset.
• Provide your Fall/Winter 2026-2027 availability

The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $28.93 - $33.92 per hour + 12% in lieu of vacation, public holidays and benefits.

Lifesaving Swimmer 6 skills and Lifesaving NL physical standard skills will be screened and applicants will be provided feedback for improvement to meet the standards. • November 22, 2026 - Lifeguard/Instructor Wet/Dry Interview Prep Session - This session is by invite only. Applicants will be shortlisted and invited to attend this session. 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Winskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre.
• November 30, 2026 - Lifeguard/Instructor Wet/Dry Interview - Applicants must be available to attend this session. Applicants will be shortlisted and invited to attend this session. 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at Winskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre.
