Job summary

The City of Delta is seeking enthusiastic candidates to join Winsskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre as Lifeguard/Instructor. You will deliver water safety instruction and lead leisure activities for all ages, while upholding facility standards and safety policies.

Required certifications include Lifesaving Swim Instructor, Water Safety Instructor or Swim for Life Instructor, with a minimum age of 16 and Grade 10 or equivalent. Availability for Fall/Winter 2026-2027 is requested.

Qualifications

• Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certification required.
• Minimum age 16.
• Grade 10 completion or equivalent considered an asset.
• Fall/Winter 2026-2027 availability required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts water safety program instruction for all age ranges and for a variety of community groups.
• Leads leisure play activities for special events, birthday parties and various celebrations.
• Performs custodial and janitorial duties relative to the aquatic facility.
• Ensures the safety of patrons participating in water safety programs and leisure play activities.
• Prepares and maintains records and reports.
• Ensures observance of regulations governing public conduct within recreational facilities and activities.
• Provides routine information to the public regarding programs and facilities; promotes interest and ongoing participation in programs.
• Ensures for safe and proper use of equipment and facilities.

The City of Delta is seeking applications from enthusiastic candidates who have completed the Water Safety Instructor and/or Swim for Life Instructor certification to join our team at Winsskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre to provide instructional and recreational aquatics programs and leisure play activities for all age groups. • Completion of Grade 10 and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience is an asset.
• Provide your Fall/Winter 2026-2027 availability

The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $27.78 - $32.57 per hour + 12% in lieu of vacation, public holidays and benefits.

Lifesaving Swimmer 6 skills and Lifesaving NL physical standard skills will be screened and applicants will be provided feedback for improvement to meet the standards. November 22, 2026 - Lifeguard/Instructor Wet/Dry Interview Prep Session - This session is by invite only. Applicants will be shortlisted and invited to attend this session. 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Winsskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre.

November 30, 2026 - Lifeguard/Instructor Wet/Dry Interview - Applicants must be available to attend this session. Applicants will be shortlisted and invited to attend this session. 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at Winsskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre.
