Job summary

The City of Victoria is seeking a Business Licence Advisor to administer complex business license applications and coordinate interdepartmental reviews. You will liaise with applicants and city departments to ensure applications meet bylaws, regulations, and policy requirements, guiding them through the licensing process.

This full-time position offers a 35-hour work week, a flex week option, and a collaborative work environment within the Business & Community Relations department.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Business Administration, Public Administration, Local Government or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in business licensing or municipal administration.
• Ability to interpret bylaws, regulations and policies.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Administers complex, non-routine business license applications.
• Reviews applications for completeness and compliance with bylaws and policies.
• Coordinates interdepartmental reviews to support timelines.
• Prepares, issues, amends, renews and administers licenses and related processes.
• Maintains accurate licensing files and documentation.
• Identifies issues and escalates as needed.
• Assists with reporting and process improvements.
• Guides staff on licensing workflows.
• Maintains applicant guides and communication materials.
