A. Primary duties involve: * Coordinate, assign and review the work of up to 20 employees involved in the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance and construction of the city’s electrical infrastructure and other assets related.
B. Other Duties: * Plan, prioritize, schedule, document and assign section inspection, maintenance and construction functions related to the City’s electrical infrastructure, with other sections and external agencies.

10. Is owning a car necessary? Yes No___X____ Approximate annual mileage10b. Normal working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.(8 hour days in this range)11. Detail any adverse conditions the position may entail:Subject to response at any hour or day to assess/dispatch emergency response/repairs due to accidents, storms or equipment failures 24 hours a day.Ability to handle complaints and negative comments.Ability to focus on engineering plans for short periods of timeFocus on a variety of source data and computer displaysAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditions12 p.m.
Qualifications Required for this Position – Basic Qualifications:Education: High school diplomaCurrent British Columbia certificate and certification in the skilled trades as an electrician or Canadian Interprovincial Qualification (Red Seal) in the electrician trade.Current and valid Field Safety Representative (FSR) Class B CertificateCompletion of a course and current knowledge of the Canadian Electrical CodeAccredited courses in management and leadership studies (1 year)Contract administrator course. (MMCD) (4 p.m.)Current and valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.Skills: Organize and prioritize the work of the sectionUnderstand and apply electrical design and construction principlesType 40 words per minute; Operational level operation of the City’s word processing, spreadsheet and associated specialized software.
Maintain accurate records, prepare and monitor budgetsRead and interpret technical drawingsSupervise a large staffCommunicate effectivelyDeal effectively with staff, the public and external agenciesEstablish and maintain effective working relationshipsAdminister the section security programExperience: 4 years of related experience, including supervisory experience or equivalentcombination of education and experience.At least 4 years of journeyman experience, including at least 2 years as a sub-foreman (level “B”).Independence: work is generated by annual objectives and goals and reviewed in meetingswith and reports to the manager.Issues such as staffing issues, deviations from departmental policy, schedule changes andBudget items are discussed with the manager with recommendations.
