Job summary

Kal Tire in Whitehorse, Yukon, is seeking a Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician to perform routine maintenance and complex repairs on a range of vehicles. This full-time, permanent role requires a licensed technician and a valid driver’s license, with opportunities to mentor apprentices and contribute to a safety-first shop culture.

The position offers starting wages of 34 CAD per hour, a clear path for wage progression, and benefits including extended health, dental, and vision

Qualifications

• Must be a fully licensed Automotive Service Technician (Journeyperson/Journeyman or Red Seal).
• Valid driver’s license required.
• 3+ years hands-on experience with brakes, shocks, and wheel alignments.
• Experience in inspections, diagnostics, servicing, and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of general mechanical services including brake and suspension repairs, engine diagnostics, and routine maintenance.
• Mentor and coach apprentices to develop their skills.
• Collaborate with the team on various vehicles from cars to light trucks.
• Identify potential service opportunities with Sales in partnership with the team.
• Maintain high safety and quality standards in all tasks.

Qualifications:

• Fully licensed as an Automotive Service Technician (Journeyperson/Journeyman or Red Seal certified).
• A valid driver’s license.
• Brings a minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience with front‑end brakes, shocks, and wheel alignments.
• Experienced in performing inspections, diagnostics, adjustments, servicing, and repairs on a variety of vehicles.
• Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem‑solving.
