The Okanagan Regional Library (ORL) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Library Page. This entry-level position is ideal for students who are eager to contribute to a welcoming, organized, and community-focused library environment.

As a Library Page, you will sort, shelve, and assist with shelving accuracy, while supporting public service tasks and event spaces. On-the-job training will be provided to help you grow in a supportive team setting.

Qualifications

• No formal education required; on-the-job training provided.
• Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate filing and records management.
• Reliable, punctual, courteous, and respectful with the public and staff.
• Comfort with light physical tasks such as lifting bins and moving carts.

Responsabilités

• Sort, shelve, and organize library materials according to procedures.
• Retrieve and return items; keep public areas tidy.
• Participate in shelf reading to maintain correct order and records.
• Assist in setting up seasonal displays and event spaces when time allows.
• Answer basic questions and refer inquiries to staff.
• Fulfill daily pick list duties.
• Perform additional tasks under supervision as assigned.

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:

• Sort, organize, and shelve library materials according to established procedures
• Retrieve, return, and shift items on shelves; maintain tidiness of public areas
• Participate in shelf reading to ensure accurate order and record keeping
• Assist in the setup of seasonal displays and event spaces (as time allows)
• Respond to basic directional questions and refer inquiries to library staff
• Fulfill daily pick list duties
• Perform additional tasks or projects under supervision as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
• Strong attention to detail and conscientious work habits
• Demonstrated ability to file alphabetically and numerically with accuracy
• Reliable and punctual with a courteous and respectful demeanor
• Capable of physical tasks, including lifting book bins, pushing book trucks, and shifting collections
• Comfortable communicating with staff and the public in a tactful manner
