Webster Hudson & Coombe LLP is a medium size downtown law firm with 16 lawyers and 25 support staff. We are looking for a legal administrative assistant to join our friendly and experienced litigation team.

Salary range: $60,000 - $75,000

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Opening and closing files
  • Organizing and filing both paper and electronic documents
  • Reviewing incoming correspondence and preparing responses
  • Editing legal documents under the direction of lawyers/paralegals
  • Calendar management, including scheduling appointments, trials, examination for discoveries, and experts
  • Assisting with trial preparation
  • Preparing and updating Lists of Documents
  • Performing other administrative responsibilities from file opening to closing

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 3 - 5 years of related work experience, preferably in insurance defence.
  • A graduate of a recognized Legal Administrative Assistant program (or other higher education qualification which is equivalent)
  • A team player who can work independently and take initiative
  • Strong working knowledge of court rules and procedures
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of work under strict deadlines
  • Technological proficiency in Microsoft office applications, as well as an ability to learn new software programs quickly
