Job description

Owen Bird Law Corporation is a downtown, full-service, mid-sized law firm committed to providing exceptional service and outstanding results for our clients.

We are currently looking for an intermediate to senior legal administrative assistant to join our litigation department and work with two lawyers who specialize in construction litigation, insurance defense and general commercial litigation. This role would be a great opportunity for a team player who can work independently, is pro-active and has some hands-on experience with junior paralegal tasks.

In this role your responsibilities will include:
• Maintaining efficient file management and bring forward system for limitation and follow-up dates.
• Preparing and drafting various correspondence and legal documents from precedent documents.
• Preparing lists of documents.
• Scheduling trials, applications, examinations for discovery, and other matters.
• Preparation of bills.
• Opening and closing files.
• Other administrative tasks are performed as required.

Here is what you bring to the team:
• Minimum of five years of relevant work experience as a legal administrative assistant in a construction or general commercial litigation law practice.
• Graduation from a legal administrative assistant program.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications and pdf software.
• Proficient with BC Online, LTSA, and other online platforms.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organization skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 and is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including an RRSP Matching Program.
