Job summary

The College of New Caledonia is seeking Custodians to perform cleaning, restocking and general upkeep across campus facilities. You will maintain equipment, ensure cleanliness, and support emergency procedures while working under supervision.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision, and good communication with students and staff. Training in WHMIS and safety procedures is expected, with opportunities for certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of grade 10 completion.
• 6 months or more Previous institutional or commercial custodial experience.
• Knowledge of custodial equipment and chemicals used.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to organize workload in an efficient manner.
• Bonding and a criminal records check may be required.
• Willingness to become certified to operate scissor/boom lift
• WHMIS and Violence in the Workplace training as required by Worksafe BC.
• Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work within and contribute to a proactive team environment.
• Physical ability to completed job demands.

Responsibilities

• Clean floors, washrooms, and common areas; restock hygienic supplies.
• Move furniture as needed for cleaning tasks.
• Perform floor maintenance and use cleaning equipment.
• Disinfect high-touch areas and service spaces.
• Handle and dispose of recyclable materials.
• Provide laundry services for uniforms and linens.
• Restock paper supplies and hand hygiene products.
• Maintain custodial equipment and perform basic repairs.
• Operate chemical dispensing systems and cleaning machinery.
• Support emergency procedures and safety drills.
• Lock doors and assist students and staff as needed.
• Monitor building conditions and report malfunctions.
• Complete work orders according to priority.
• Collaborate with Facilities staff to meet campus needs.
• Contribute to a positive work environment and professional conduct.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by Facilities Management.
