Rocky View Schools seeks a Learning Assistant at W. H Croxford High School in Airdrie to support students with complex needs in classrooms and community settings.

The role involves implementing individualized plans, assisting with medical and daily living activities, and collaborating with teachers to promote health, learning and independence. Qualifications

• Educational Assistant certificate or related diploma.
• Training in preventative/de-escalating behaviour or willingness to become certified.
• Minimum one year experience with students with challenging behavior is an asset.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to students as identified in their individualized plans, including those requiring personal, medical care, lifts, transfers, and safety support.
• Implements and reinforces strategies as directed by teachers and student plans.
• Records observations and data on behavioral challenges to guide positive behavior strategies.
• Participates in collaborative planning meetings for student planning as requested.
• Assists in preparing individualized program materials under teacher direction.
• Promotes student learning, belonging and independence.
• Supports students' medical needs and daily living activities as directed by a specialist or teacher.
