Rocky View Schools (RVS) invites applications for a continuing full-time Learning Assistant at Chestermere Lake Middle School starting immediately. The role involves assisting students per individualized plans, supporting behavior and learning, and collaborating with teachers to promote belonging and independence.

Candidates should have an Educational Assistant certificate or related credential, with experience in challenging behavior.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or related field certificate/diploma.
• Training in preventative/de-escalation behaviour or willingness to certify.
• Minimum one year experience with students with challenging behavior is an asset.
• CPR/First Aid certification is an asset.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist students per individualized plans, including supports like personal care and safety needs.
• Implement strategies directed by teachers and student plans.
• Record observations and data for behavior planning.
• Participate in planning meetings for student planning as requested.
• Prepare individualized program materials under teacher direction.
• Promote student learning, belonging and independence.
• Support emotional and behavioral regulation per student plans.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Assist with routine personal care tasks including lifting, transfers and mobility.
• Assist in adaptive physical education and motor skills development as directed.
• Support medical needs as directed, including transfers and medication administration.
