The starting annual salary for this full-time School Teacher position ranges from $61, 502 to $1 12 , 806 , with placement on the July 1, 202 5 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and relationship-focused Learning Support Teacher to support students in Grades 6 to 8 within our inclusive and arts-integrated learning community. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans, coordinate and support a team of Educational Assistants, and collaborate with staff, families, and district specialists to create responsive learning environments that meet the diverse needs of students. We are looking for an educator who is knowledgeable about inclusive practices, student-centered planning, social-emotional learning, executive functioning supports, and differentiated instruction. They will value collaboration, advocate for student success, and use creative and flexible approaches to help students develop independence, confidence, self-advocacy, and a sense of belonging. Above all, we seek a teacher who believes in the strengths of every learner and is committed to helping students explore, express, and excel as valued members of our school community.

The successful candidate will be committed to working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to design an environment and programming conducive to engaging children and their families. They should have a breadth of knowledge and experience in the areas of social emotional learning, trauma informed practice, differentiated instruction, and familiar with technology used to support students.

The successful candidate may be required to complete LSS Essentials , a series of 3 workshops facilitated by the LSS Department.

Education & Experience
  • Major/minor or diploma in Inclusive Education (aka Special Education)
  • Practicum and/or work experience in Inclusive Education at the Middle School level
  • Case management experience required
  • Training and experience with Level B Assessments ( ie . KBIT2/KTEA III)
  • Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

  • Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation and assessment
  • Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behavior and classroom dynamics.
  • Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students’ interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning
  • Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
  • Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
