The Abbotsford School District is seeking a full-time School Teacher focused on English language learning, TESL qualified and experienced with ELL instruction and assessments. The role emphasizes inquiry-based learning and collaboration within a supportive, career-spanning environment.

The starting annual salary for this full-time School Teacher position ranges from $61, 502 to $1 12 , 806 , with placement on the July 1, 202 5 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

The teacher must be able to create inquiry/project-based learning experiences that explore big ideas and concepts allowing students to thrive within an environment of complex knowledge construction as opposed to simple information assignments. Students will be expected to demonstrate learning in authentic ways beyond the four walls of a classroom and teachers will facilitate this as an integral part of the assessment cycle. This position is designed for a forward thinking, collaborative educator who thrives in a team environment and is willing to continue to operate on the leading edge of education and adjust practice accordingly.

Education & Experience
  • Teaching English a a Second Language (TESL) Certificate from an accredited program
  • Training and experience administering and interpreting IPT Assessments
  • Familiarity with IELTS instruction
  • Familiarity of the BC ELL Standards
  • Experience teaching ELL learners at the Secondary level
  • Experience using technology to facilitate language acquisition
  • Eligible for Abbotsford Academic English Language Program certificate
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
