Job Summary & Responsibilities

The teacher must be able to create inquiry/project-based learning experiences that explore big ideas and concepts allowing students to thrive within an environment of complex knowledge construction as opposed to simple information assignments. Students will be expected to demonstrate learning in authentic ways beyond the four walls of a classroom and teachers will facilitate this as an integral part of the assessment cycle. This position is designed for a forward-thinking, collaborative educator who thrives in a team environment and is willing to continue to operate on the leading edge of education and adjust practice accordingly.

Education & Experience

• Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate from an accredited program
• Training and experience administering and interpreting IPT Assessments
• Familiarity with IELTS instruction
• Familiarity of the BC ELL Standards
• Experience teaching ELL learners at the Secondary level
• Experience using technology to facilitate language acquisition
• Eligible for Abbotsford Academic English Language Program certificate
• Eligible for B.C. Certification
• Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
