Job summary

Rocky View Schools (RVS) invites applications for a continuing, part-time Learning Assistant at RancheView School in the Town of Cochrane, Alberta. The role supports K-8 students with individualized plans and behavioral strategies, starting immediately.

The position requires an Educational Assistant Certificate or related field qualification, with training in behaviour management preferred. CPR/First Aid is an asset, and a 1-year experience with challenging behavior is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or related field certificate/diploma.
• Training in preventative/de-escalating behaviour, or willingness to become certified.
• Minimum one year experience with students with challenging behavior and applying positive behavior supports is an asset.
• CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to become certified is an asset.
• Equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to students as identified in individualized plans, including those needing additional supports.
• Implement and reinforce strategies as directed by teachers and student plans.
• Record observations and data on behavioral challenges to guide positive behavior supports.
• Participate in planning meetings for student planning as requested.
• Assist in preparing individualized program materials under teacher direction.
• Promote student learning, belonging and independence.
• Support emotional/behavioral regulation in line with student plans.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy of student and staff information.
• Assist with routine personal care activities and daily living tasks as needed.
• Assist in physical education and motor skills development as directed by a specialist.
