Qualifications

The Senior Technology Manager role will manage and direct a cross-functional team that identifies, recommends, develops, implements, and supports IT solutions to enable strategic and tactical business goals and objectives. The role will manage and steward a set of technology assets within a technology platform, in collaboration with business and IT roles on solution design and development of systems, and applications that may depend on or are used by other platforms. The role will create and drive technical strategy and roadmaps for a set of technology assets within a technology platform.

Work Arrangements

This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement, and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

What you’ll do
  • Set and own technical vision and roadmap for assigned assets within a platform to support and enhance business outcomes, deliver milestones for assigned assets, monitor, steward and advance the technical health and performance of assigned assets, work with architects to develop technology capabilities roadmap, manage lifecycle of vendor platforms and vendor relationships
  • Lead solution Development or Service practices and processes by enabling the team to deliver high quality solutions in a sustainable and optimized manner.
  • Identify, document and continuously improve and implement end-to‑end software/service development, quality, delivery and support processes
  • Set direction and vision for the team; including hiring, mentoring and training when required; monitoring productivity quality and morale and spearheading the team through processes implementation and changes
  • Achieve strong internal client and stakeholder relations through service commitments by balancing efficiency, quality and proposing viable solutions to minimize obstacles as well as inspire colleagues to do the same
  • Investigate and lead efforts to balance regulatory demands as well as stay updated with the changing regulations and policies to ensure clients’ best interests are met
  • Use critical reasoning to examine from various perspectives to analyze and make well supported judgements and interpretations on complex issues; make time sensitive decisions with limited information and autonomously manage competing priorities and atypical disruptions effectively
  • Change leadership, leading cross functional team members through periods of uncertainty and ambiguity
  • Lead agile delivery teams using Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid models
  • Contribute to, and continuously evolve, our data roadmap, negotiating scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs with multiple lines of business
  • Partner with architecture and platform teams to align roadmap, delivery, and operational health,
  • Champion DevOps practices including CI/CT/CD, release management, operational readiness, and production support
What you’ll bring
  • 3+ years in a team leadership or management role; 5+ years of relevant business technology experience
  • 5+ years managing people in an agile delivery environment
  • Experience leading teams through ambiguity, competing priorities, and changing business direction
  • Demonstrated ownership of a technology or delivery roadmap
  • Post-secondary degree or combination of equivalent education/ experience in the following or related discipline – Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering or Software Engineering
  • Contemporary Business Intelligence Tool Certifications, SQL Server tool Certification
  • Deep knowledge of Azure cloud services and modern cloud-native application development, including Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure API Management (APIM), Azure Storage, Azure DevOps, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Strong experience in full-stack application development, including front-end frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, or Vue.js), back-end development using .NET/C#, Java, or Python, and designing scalable, secure, and maintainable enterprise applications.
  • Strong expertise in API design, development, integration, and administration, including RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, API security (OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT), API versioning, and API lifecycle management.
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and experience developing enterprise-grade applications using languages such as C#, Python, Java, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Exceptional Organizational skills, ability to break down complex enterprise needs spanning multiple assets into multiphase implementable solutions
  • A level of agility and flexibility to adapt to changes in priorities, assigned responsibilities and projects by seeking out, communicating the WHY and HOW
  • Strong Interpersonal skills through effective and professional communication and sharing/ soliciting knowledge and insights freely with clients, colleagues, business partners, sponsors and senior leaders, providing constructive feedback, embracing diversity, ability to negotiate/ mediate to resolve conflicts and influence through active listening, emotional intelligence and empathy
