Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead tailings containment design from concept through construction, supported by junior engineers and CAD designers. The role includes technical reviews, inspections and dam stability assessments, with potential acting as Engineer of Record on key projects.

Ideal candidates have a geotechnical master’s/PhD, OIQ eligibility, 5–8 years of tailings design experience and fluency in French and English.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil or Geological Engineering.
• Master’s and/or Ph.D. in Geotechnics or equivalent experience.
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for membership.
• Mining experience: 5–8 years in designing tailings containment structures.
• ASP Construction safety card.
• Strong knowledge of French and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams in tailings containment design from concept to construction.
• Participate in technical reviews, audits and engineering peer reviews.
• Inspect tailings facilities and conduct stability reviews of dams.
• Act as Engineer of Record (EoR) on selected projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and CAD designers; contribute to conferences.
